The appearance of Gal Costa at Viva Brasil Festival 2013 is a dream come true: for many years Viva Brasil has wanted to bring one of the great Brazilian icons to the Netherlands. Together with Maria Bethânia, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa founded the popular Brazilian Tropicalismo movement in the 1960s and 1970s, going on to sing numbers by popular songwriters like Tom Jobim and Erasmo Carlos. In 1982, the single Festa Do Interior from the double album Fantasia became her greatest hit ever, going multi-platinum. Her most recent CD/DVD Recanto was written and produced by Caetano Veloso, who created a complete overview of Gal’s musical career in an intimate theatrical setting.
"Gal sounds like a young, emerging singer, without interfering with her naked vocal heart, her decades-long experience” (BBC Music).
