It’s impossible to think of Brazilian music today without thinking of DJ MAM. Since 2002 this much-lauded producer, composer and musical jack-of-all-trades has delighted audiences with his special projects. MAM has a great ear for mixing traditional Brazilian music with contemporary beats and production concepts from all over the world, and over the years he has worked with big names like Elza Soares, Mangueira Samba School, Bnegão and Danilo Caymmi.
In 2014 he won the Best Brazilian Music DJ Of The Year award during the Rio Night Awards, and headlined at Flamengo Beach for Rio’s 450th birthday. Together with multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Sha he composed Oba Rio, which was chosen as the official soundtrack to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the iconic statue of Christ on Corcovado mountain. And ending the year literally with a bang he took to the main stage of Rio’s world-famous New Year’s Day celebrations on Copacabana beach, playing for its biggest audience ever: 2.3 million revellers.
